Solange Charas, Ph.D.

Solange brings human-capital expertise to economic damages matters. She has served as Chief Human Resources Officer at three global public companies and was a National Director at EY and Arthur Andersen. Her work focuses on quantifying the material impact of human capital on corporate performance and on the disclosure frameworks that govern it.

Senior HR operating experience

Solange has held the CHRO position at three global public companies and was on the leadership team, as a National Director, at EY and Arthur Andersen. She has worked across the full human capital function, with a specialty in remuneration design and administration: base pay, annual incentives, and long-term incentive plans for global organizations.

Board governance and M&A due diligence

She has served on public-company boards and has chaired Audit and Compensation Committees. She has completed more than 70 human capital due diligence engagements for corporate sponsors, private-equity and venture investors, and transaction advisory firms.

Her expertise covers human capital disclosures under the SEC framework, ISO 30414, and the major ESG governance standards.

Academic appointments and writing

She is an adjunct professor at Columbia University, the University of Southern California, and New York University, teaching graduate courses in financial literacy and human capital analytics. She is a Distinguished Principal Research Fellow at The Conference Board, where she leads the Strategic Human Capital Institute and serves as Board Advisor to the Human Capital Center.

Her research and commentary have appeared in more than 200 publications, with 63 academic citations to date. She has contributed chapters to both editions of The Handbook for Board Governance and to the Coaching the Team at Work: Team Coaching Handbook. Her book Humanizing Human Capital was published in September 2022.
